The Poet: Anne Sexton, "Courage"

Posted by admin on

"Courage""It is in the small things we see it.The child's first step,as awesome as an earthquake. The first time you rode a bike, wallowing up the sidewalk. The first spanking when your heartwent on a journey all alone. When they called you crybabyor poor or fatty or crazyand made you into an alien, you drank their acidand concealed it.Later,if you faced the death of bombs and bulletsyou did not do it with a banner, you did it with only a hat tocover your heart. You did not fondle the weakness inside youthough it was there.Your courage was a small coalthat you kept swallowing. If your buddy saved youand...

‘Eco-Challenge’ Is the Adventure TV We Need

Posted by admin on

The Wainibokasi River flows languidly past tropical trees and taro fields for about seven miles across Viti Levu, the largest of Fiji’s 300-plus islands, before it eases into the Pacific not far from the capital, Suva. Firstly the book is called Never Take a Bear to School by Mark Sperring and Illustrated by Britta Teckentrup. Some features I loved: it's the perfect length for new kindergarteners, who love a good tale but are only new to sitting and listening at length...

Drive-in theatre: Reviewing the Dinosaur World Live 2020 experience

Posted by admin on

So this year social distancing is in, and theatre adapts - a drive-in theatre is one of these adaptations. I was invited to the press viewing of Dinosaur World Live this year and was intrigued to find out it was at the Drive-In London, a drive-in cinema but which now doubles up as a theatre stage. I was slightly concerned that the magic of live theatre could not be translated into a massive car parking lot with a screen but figured it would be worth a try. What was The Drive In theatre experience like?So this year Dinosaur world Live is...
