Transport is fast going full electric, and there’s no looking back. Latest in electrified innovations is Yamaha’s sleek new EMF electric scooter, which comes with a swappable battery system.
Its wheels are smaller than those of other two-wheeled EVs to date, which, according to the company, makes it a model that’s “fun and full of friendly appeal.”
Apart from the visual aspects, the 130/70-10 tires will purportedly also provide the bike with “excellent acceleration,” with Electrek noting a 0-50 km/h (31 mph) time of 3.5 seconds.

This two-wheeled EV boasts a powerful 7.6 kW electric motor with 26 Nm of torque, per Notebookcheck. Four-pistol hydraulic brakes ensure sufficient stopping power, and a compact backlit LED screen displays all the necessary information at a glance, so as not to distract from the road.

And, there is a small compartment located just between the driver’s feet, which serves as pretty useful and fairly accessible storage. For even more convenience, drivers can also opt to purchase an add-on cup holder that can be installed onto the vehicle.
Of course, this can also be used to store other small items if a drink isn’t in place.

Designed by Yamaha Motor’s local subsidiaries in Taiwan, the moped will be produced locally by Yamaha Motor Taiwan Co., Ltd.
Users will be able to use the Gogoro Energy Network’s GoStation battery-swapping stations installed throughout Taiwan to fuel their bikes as and when needed.
When the battery in the bike runs out, users will be able to swap it with a freshly charged one from the station. This also saves on charging time, since the vehicle will be perpetually ready to go.

Electrek has noted that at this point, there appears to be more GoStations than gas stations in large cities such as Taipei, so drivers won’t be faced with the risk of running flat and ending up stranded.
The EMF is planned for a March 2022 introduction in Taiwan, where mopeds are a highly popular transport choice.
