This Week In Experimental: Volume 63

Posted by admin on

Hello Experimenters!

I’ll keep this short as the relocation chaos is at the front of my mind. Some very cool news: Analog Cookbook Issue 4 is available to purchase. Kate tells me that it’s both big and excellent. I know I can’t wait to get my copy. Also, the cover art was designed by the one and only Hogan Seidel who made TWiE’s IG graphics and logo.

In solidarity,

Gabby

Things to Read

Article/Essay: A Bureau for Self-Care: Interdependence versus Individualism by iLiana Fokianaki

Book Recommendation: Cecile Starr and Experimental Animation Edited by Scott Hammen

Poem: Beauty is brief and violent by Snehal Vadher

Things to Do

Assignment: Go for a walk/drive/bike ride and be with your thoughts. Just give yourself the time to think your thoughts and be present in your own mind. Try not to run away or distract yourself. It will probably be uncomfortable. Lean into that.

Journal: What is your ideal creative retreat? Think of it as building your dream lab. You get to create the agenda, the length of the stay, the participants, the location. Who do you want to spend time with while you work on your practice? Do you want to work on short exercises? Or do you all come in with individual projects? Or are you making something together?
